CALL TO ACTION

African Asylum Seekers Community Conversation Recap
Written by: Matius Daniel

This past week, CEE Centre for Young Black Professionals hosted a community conversation to discuss the African Asylum Seekers Crisis that has been prevalent in the GTA and surrounding areas since July of 2023. This event included open discussions and breakout groups with recorded minutes to capture perspectives from organizations that have been challenged to respond to the impacts resulting from the crisis and include Black-led, Black-serving and Black-focused (B3) organizations. The purpose of this assembly was to collectively harmonize voices from established community leaders to form a strategy that effectively improves the health and well-being of those fleeing the conflict and natural disasters in South Sudan.

To keep the community informed about the report being generated, we are sharing the questions posed in the community conversation that aims to support easing the stressors of African Asylum Seekers who have been left out in the cold since arriving in Canada.

We appreciate the perspectives from the community and encourage readers to complete the surveys below!
The series of three surveys that we are asking to have completed by this week Friday, December 8th, 2023 are critical to strategically move forward with the application of our joint report being submitted to Provincial and Federal government officials.

These surveys should take about a total of 20 minutes to complete and we urge you to do so ASAP. The surveys will close as of December 8th at 11:59 PM.
